Tools

Two small command-line programs from Original Pages. Both are free (MIT), both have no account and no API key, and both do one job well. Pick the one you need, download it, and you are done.

AWS · Python

ssmx

A smarter AWS SSM CLI.

Shell access, one-off commands and port forwarding over AWS Systems Manager using names instead of instance IDs, endpoints and ports. Three AWS CLI calls become one command. No bastion SSH keys, no open ports.

pipx install git+https://github.com/originalpages/ssmx.git
ssmx connect api-1
ssmx forward bastion-1 --to prod-db

Needs Python 3, the AWS CLI v2 and the Session Manager plugin.

Any project · Go

r2m

repo → Mermaid. See how a project is built.

Point it at a folder or a public GitHub repo and get an overview, a “which file uses which” graph and a folder tree as Mermaid diagrams. Static analysis only: no AI, nothing is executed, works offline. Save as PNG or SVG, or keep the diagram in your README.

r2m my-project # everything, in your browser
r2m owner/repo # a public GitHub project
r2m . deps save # Markdown file instead

One file, nothing to install first. Reads JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Go and Java/Kotlin imports.

r2m: which file do I download?

Open the releases page, download the file for your computer and unzip it. You get one file called r2m (r2m.exe on Windows).

Your computerDownload
Windowsr2m_<version>_windows_amd64.zip
Mac (Apple chip: M1, M2, …)r2m_<version>_darwin_arm64.tar.gz
Mac (Intel)r2m_<version>_darwin_amd64.tar.gz
Linuxr2m_<version>_linux_amd64.tar.gz

Prefer Go? go install github.com/originalpages/r2m/cmd/r2m@latest. No terminal at all? The README links a web page where you paste a repo address.
